    Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that all schools and district administrative buildings will resume normal operations on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.  All district employees are to report to their work sites at their normally scheduled time on Wednesday.  “The timely return of staff members and students has been made possible by the hard work of dedicated district employees, in partnership with local agencies,” states Superintendent Thomas, “while many district facilities sustained substantial damage, repairs are being handled safely and expeditiously.”

     

    Currently an inspection of all athletic facilities and fields is being conducted by district administrators, high school principals, coaches and athletic directors.  For those campuses with viable athletic facilities and fields, high school athletic practices may resume after 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

     

    Superintendent Thomas will continue to provide updates via automated calls to parents and employees, and also via local media sources and the district website.

    Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that all schools and offices within the Escambia County School District will remain closed, Monday September 21, 2020, and Tuesday, September 22, 2020 (excluding the Maintenance Department where all personnel should report to work on Monday, 9/21, at 7 am).  Our Maintenance, Custodial and Facilities crews are working tirelessly to make sure our schools and buildings are safe and ready to resume normal operations.  “This is a dynamic situation subject to the restoration of water and power to both schools and families within the area,” stated Superintendent Thomas, “In addition, roads must be cleared and assessed prior to school buses returning to routes.” 

     

    As a result of the arrival of Hurricane Sally, the School Board of Escambia County rescheduled their Special School Board Meeting and Final Budget Hearing for Monday, September 21, 2020, to be held at 5:01 p.m. in Room 160 at the J.E. Hall Center, 30 East Texar Drive.  The September Regular School Board Meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. also in Room 160, on Monday, September 21, 2020. 

     

    Superintendent Thomas will continue updating families and staff through automated telephone messages.  Parents and employees are encouraged to monitor district media sources, including the ECSD website.  Superintendent Thomas stated, “The safety of our students, families and staff continues to be our greatest concern.”

    Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that Escambia School District schools and administrative offices will remain closed on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16, 2020, as a result of Hurricane Sally's arrival to the Gulf Coast.  The cancellation of school district activities includes all extracurricular activities, as well as the Special School Board Meeting and Regular School Board Meeting slated for 5:01 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

     

    The Special School Board Meeting and Final Budget Hearing will be rescheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 5:01p.m., and the Regular School Board Meeting will follow the Special Meeting, and begin at 5:30 p.m., also on September 22, 2020.

     

    At this time, Superintendent Thomas and district administration will continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Sally. All district employees and families are urged to do the same.  At this time, plans to resume regular district operations are set for Thursday, September 17, 2020. 


    Any necessary updates will be announced by automated phone calls, district website updates, through local news media and via school district social media.

    Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that based on recent Emergency Operations Center (EOC) updates indicating wind and rain will be in the area earlier than expected.  Superintendent Thomas states “The National Weather Service and our local EOC has advised Escambia County may experience tropical storm winds as early as 6:00 a.m. Monday morning, creating unsafe conditions for travel.  Based on this advisory, “All Escambia County (FL) public schools and offices will be closed Monday, September 14, 2020.


    The district will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Sally, working along with the EOC, as the safety and welfare of our students and staff is paramount.”

    As the storm's track continues, updates and announcements will be made via local media, through School Messenger calls, as well as on the school district website.

    We have scheduled one last senior portrait for Monday, October 12 from 2 - 5 PM.

    This is an after school event by appointment only.  There will be a signup sheet in room 419.

    There is a $30 sitting fee if students want proofs mailed to their home.

    FREE if a student just wants his or her picture in the yearbook.
